Built in 1904, the Kirkland House was home to John Marion Kirkland, Edna Jeanette Stringfellow, and their eight kids: William "Hubert", Lois, Sallie, Jewel "Jack", John Klein, James "Stringfellow", Louise, and Carroll. The family lived in the home until the mid to late 1950s. The home changed ownership a few times, with the most recent owners using it to store old Methodist Church pews, one of which can still be seen in the home today. The house was moved 474 feet west of its original location in 2008, and restoration began in 2011. Today, the Kirkland House is the oldest remaining structure in the City of Coppell, and it shares the story of the Kirkland family while portraying Coppell life in the early 1900s.
